The lumbo-pelvic region is an area of concern for a large number of clients. In this lecture/demo-style workshop, developed by the Merrithew™ team, explore how the Reformer can be an integral tool in a post-rehab setting. After reviewing the anatomy, biomechanics and optimal functioning of the lumbar spine, pelvis, hip and surrounding musculature, discuss some of the more common injuries and conditions that can occur and the resulting dysfunction. Then, learn a wide variety of exercise options utilizing the Reformer and many of its accessories and how to identify better movement patterns and muscular activation. The Arc Barrel has traditionally been used solely for Pilates training. Now, explore how to utilize the cushioned and curved surface of the barrel to facilitate a unique series of stretching and strengthening moves that fit perfectly into any conditioning routine. An excellent cross-training tool, the Arc Barrel can be used to support the torso or the limbs and allow focus on isolating precise movements in individual joints. Then combine and incorporate all of them into an efficient and effective full-body workout. With this workshop, developed by the Merrithew™ team, discover how to position the Barrel in a variety of ways to mobilize and strengthen joint structures as well as to increase stability at the core. The Stability Ball is a perfect tool to use with prenatal clients and adding resistance with the Flex-Band® exerciser delivers a safe and effective workout for moms-to-be. In this interactive seminar, developed by the Merrithew™ team, apply the most current medical information, exercise guidelines and research available on pregnancy and movement to innovative STOTT PILATES® exercise adaptations. Learn programming concepts for teaching small groups and private clients specifically in the second trimester. Discuss anatomical and physiological changes, risk factors and movement considerations and leave with strategies for building new prenatal programs as well as enhancing those already in progress.
